本課程幫助我們在認識周圍世界時將科學看作一場冒險。通過實踐活動，學生設計的實驗，研究和引導式閱讀，學生開始探索生命和地球科學。在地球科學單元，學生學習地球及特征變化。在生命科學，他們探索生物世界及其組織。在第二個學期，學生探索迷人的地球和物質世界。在地球科學單元中，學生細致的研究地球的構成以及地球、月球和太陽之間的關系。在物理科學單元中，他們研究物質的屬性。通過建立模型來調查簡單的機器是如何運作，學習為什么月亮在一個月中不斷變化形狀，這些課程能夠很好的滿足學生天生的好奇心。課程設計容納許多的學習風格，鼓勵學生通過以實踐為中心的學習、閱讀和傳統研究以及教學方法來運用新概念。在本門課程中，學生還探索科學方法和各種科學職業。
